6th Grade Orientation

Every year we are eager to meet our incoming 6th graders, and this year is no exception.
Below are some important dates & information.

Encore Request Form - Students will take encore (elective) courses next year. To collect student requests, please complete the Course Request Sheet. Here is the timeline:

April 1st - The 6th Grade Course Request Sheets are mailed home.

Week of April 8th - 5th grade teachers will show the SMS 5th Grade 2024 Video.

April 14th - Completed Course Request Sheets due to your 5th grade teacher.

April 16th - 24th - Middle School Counselors Visits to Elementary Schools.

Counselors Visits to Elementary Schools - Between April 16th and April 24th, our school counselors will meet with all incoming 6th graders to review their course selection sheets. Again, this is primarily for encore course requests.

5th Grade Class Visits to SMS - On May 2nd and 3rd, all incoming 6th-grade students will be bused from their elementary school to SMS for a building tour during the school day. This visit is for students only.

5th Grade Parent & Student Visit - May 6th at 5:30-6:30. Doors will open at 5:15. Parents & students can walk around the building. Students who have selected band as an encore will be able to view instruments.
